Join in the Day of Felt!

Saturday 2 October is the International Day of Felt – a day when felt makers around the world celebrate their craft by making something in the designated colours (this year blue/green/yellow) and making it public. see the call to artists on www.feltunited.com – your polit bureau thought it would be an interesting thing for Craft Reactor to contribute to.

Instead of organising a meet we’re having a virtual event. We’d like Craft Reactor members to make some kind of felt work according to the guidelines on the Felt United website. When you’re done take some photos of your creation and email them to hello@craftreactor.com – we’ll put all the Craft Reactor website and ask Felt United link to it.

You can get supplies of fleece and felting needles from McAree Brothers in Howe Street, Edinburgh (unless it’s sold out!) and maybe from Hobbycraft out at Fort Kinnaird.

Just a quick note to remind folks that we’re meeting this week in Tea Tree on Bread Street again this Tuesday 28th Sept.  5pm till 8pm as our hosts have to leave sharp that night.   There will be some active crafting as usual and we want to discuss and decide on the plan for our proposed Members’ Showcase exhibition. See you there!

Crafty Meet

Hello crafty people!

If you came along to your launch party, thank you for getting us off to such a flying start. If you didn’t then it’s never too late to join in the fun.

TeaTreeTeaWe’re getting together again on Tuesday 14 September for an informal Crafty Lock-in at the Tea Tree Tea shop on Bread Street from 6pm to 8.30pm. The wonderful Tea Tree staff have agreed to stay on after their usual closing time to let us chat, drink tea, eat cake and make stuff all the longer.

Don’t worry if you can’t get there for 6pm – it’s a drop-in thing. If you’re working on something portable do bring it along. We’d love to see what you’re making. There will also be a few Crafty Kits for a small fee for those who might want to try something different.

Anyone who has joined and paid a membership fee should get their card and stuff on Tuesday if they come along (if you can’t be there let us know, we’ll post it).

If you want to join online please see our membership page for details.

Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

Our members Madeleine Shepherd and Carmen Moran are very pleased to be part of the event selling their handmade creations so pop in and say hello somewhere between tasty brunch and enjoying the tunes.
